The Rotary Peace Garden Mosaic is a centerpiece of a new Rotary Club Peace Garden located near The Classic Center Box Office in Athens, Georgia.
Originally the project was planned for another location and designed for a different orientation, but this is a delightful spot for this internationally-minded mosaic!
The public art mosaic features children from around the world made with colorful ceramic and mosaic, surrounded with sparkling mirror and the words "Divided We Are Apart - United We Thrive"
Looking around online, certain kids popped out.They were made in early 2021 and were selected to reflect global diversity, not nationality/location. I made an effort to render their likeness in ceramic relief form. Pictured clockwise from the top, based on children from the following countries: Ukraine (girl in purple), Pakistan (dark green), China (red), Afghanistan (orange), Ireland (freckled boy), Thailand (green), and Chad (blue).
